Painting in Progress Step 2
I feel more comfortable with a canvas and a brush than with a pencil and a paper! On a 75 x 55 cm canvas that I have already stretched and primed myself,I put some titanium white scarcely thinned by some linseed oil.(linseed oil is what we use for thinning oil paint).I put this mixture of linseed oil and titanium white so as to be able to mix my colours right on the canvas ( a technique introduced by impressionists).I grabbed a mixture of dioxazine purple and cobalt blue and started painting the sky. From time to time I grabbed some magenta to introduce more hues into the sky.
Time for my favourite play now!Putting some clouds into my sky! What I did on what you see here is define the shape of the clouds and the lights and shadows on them.Lights are done with pure titanium white while shadows were painted with a mixture of magenta and dioxazine purple.I'll go back and put more hues and tints on both lights and shadows.I'll also give the clouds more texture.
See you over the next step!

The right word that i can use to describe the steps is WONDERFUL. They painting itself, the colors and the overall view show that you have a great talent that needs to be shared with a highly sophisticated public that can go beyond the artistic work and contemplate in the hidden perspectives.
ReplyDeleteI truly would like to thank you for having invited me to your world cause you've taken me back to my middle school sweet memories as i had a painting course that allowed me to come across the fascinating world of lines, shapes and colors...
But, unfortunately, even if i excelled at that school subject, i could not develop that skill....
Sorry for this long comment but i hope it will give you the rationale behind my passion for painting.
